Today was a very tremendous day! The class was full of wonderful detail. The interview with Ms. Eismann was AMAZING! I got another view about my topic. I will surely use her in my video. Ms. Katie’s little class was very informative and I will be looking forward to teaching Ms. Marie about what she taught us today!

The reading. The introduction had such a powerful impact to me. It had such devastating  quotes in the beginning. I continued to read on and as I read, I saw names from the reading that live here in Kodiak. For example, Trisha Gartland and Bruce Barker. Unfortunately, They both were not home so I had to leave the message to Mrs. Gartlands husband and Mr. Barker’s wife. LOL I was shocked to have read that from the public hearing people came to watch it in person. They arrived from cars, planes and boats! I thought over 250 people that went would be a lot, but according to Ms. Raft she wanted MORE! And well I would agree. A powerful response from a fisher man was from Mr. Brian Johnson.

“After about three days of sitting there ( on the boat) with (bad) weather, looking at oil on the beach, we, said we are out here to clean up oil and to do something, and we don’t give a damn what exxon thinks at this point. So the four of us did hit the beach and we took about a ten-mile area an we knocked out 10,000 pounds of almost straight oil. And it was just four people. And you look what exxon and their huge systems what would it have taken to go hit an area. It was incredible, the machinery and helicopters and landing barges and skiffs, and whatnot, just do what four people in a ten-foot rubber raft could do on their hands and knees with buckets.”
-Brian Johnson, Fisherman

I got to interviews done today from my uncle Fred Berestoff and Mrs. Cusick. Mrs. Cusick’s interview was incomparable to the rest. The first time I asked her she totally didn’t remember about the fact that she volunteered. She helped with the clean up by washing birds at the armory! I never knew there was a bird clean up too! Her story was terribly sad. Although they may have cleaned a lot, more have died!

I have more to say, but that’s about it for today!
